In the Spring the Journal of eScience Librarianship Editorial Team sought applications for a Data Editor. Today we are excited to officially wlecome Allie Tatarian as our new Data Editor!
Allie Tatarian is a Research & Instruction and Data Librarian from Hirsh Health Sciences Library, Tufts University. They bring experience in teaching research data management and responsible conduct in research (RCR), open access publishing, and biomedical research. In this role, Allie will ensure that datasets accompanying manuscripts meet the submission guidelines and standards of good data management practice; and will work with the editorial team to establish policies and guidelines for the submission of data articles and papers describing research data.
As JeSLIB continues to receive more manuscripts with data files and an increasing interest by authors in publishing articles focusing on research datasets, it was important to provide support for these changing needs.
We are also excited to share a new article type avaialble for our authors. The Data in Action article is used when an author wants to publish a description of library and information science research datasets with the aim of increasing visibility and transparency, supporting their reuse, and promoting reproducible research. A Data in Action Article Template was designed to be used for submitting this type of article.
We welcome your Data in Action submissions, and you will have the opportunity to work directly with Allie.
You can read more about Allie Tatarian and the Data in Action article in our latest issue: Volume 13, Issue 2. We welcome your thoughts and comments on these changes as we continue to evolve in order to best serve the data librarian community.
