A Primary Care Problem

Author:

Abstract

I wrote this poem after an experience during my emergency medicine sub-internship when we found a surprising diagnosis that was thought to be ‘non-emergent’. The experience helped me to realize that even though we may have specific areas of expertise within the medical field, we all share the responsibility to treat patients, particularly those who are underserved or part of vulnerable populations, with compassion.
